In this article, we will discuss about how to e-verify income tax return (ITR) with bank ATM. As you all know that income tax return verification is mandatory after e-filing. There are two ways to verify income tax return (ITR) i.e. online or offline. There are total five ways to verify income tax return online. The bank ATM is one of them. You can check complete detail about how to e-verify income tax return ITR here. You can also verify income tax return by sending the physically copy of ITR-V. But here we will only discuss about how to e-verify through bank ATM.
Updates: CBDT provides one-time relaxation to verify e-filed returns; ITRs filed for AY 2020-21 can be verified by 28-02-2022 (Circular No.2/2021 Dt 28-12-2021)
E-verification can also be done via ATM validation facility provided that:
- ATM card of the bank account is linked to PAN Card
- Bank account is registered with Income tax online portal
- Mobile number and email ID should be registered with Bank and Tax department.
- List of Banks through which you can generate EVC through Bank ATM option – Axis Bank Ltd, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India.
e-Verification ITR through ATM 2021
Step 1: You have to visit to ATM of your Bank
Step 2: After swiping your ATM card and entering PIN of your account, you will be provided with an additional option of ‘PIN FOR INCOME TAX FILING’ if your bank provides this facility and it may differ from bank to bank.
Step 5: After generation of EVC, Login to e-filing portal of income tax.
Step 6: Click on e-Verify income tax return.
Step 7: Choose option 1- I already have an EVC to e-verify my return. Following screen will be displayed
Step 8: Enter the pre-generated EVC generated by the ATM which was received on your mobile number in the text box and click on Submit button to e-verify your return. If verification is successful following message will appear:
Step 9: Download the Acknowledgement and save it.
